Decollage Memory 06
Memory: The Thanksgiving Feast (POSITIVE SIGNIFICANT)
Regained: Day 41 / loser game
Form: Gold-wrapped chocolate coins. Eat to view
What happened:
- Brianna and what looks to be over 100 other kids are sitting in the town plaza, eating Thanksgiving dinner off paper plates, etc. Music is playing from somewhere. There is a series of fresh graves and wooden crosses nearby.
- Sam stands up and gives a speech!
"Um, people.
First of all, thanks to Albert and his helpers for this meal. Let's give it up for the true Mac Daddy."
[applause, laughter]
"And we have to mention Lana and Dahra, because without them, there would be a lot fewer of us here."
[more applause, no laughter]
"Our first Thanksgiving in the FAYZ."
[a kid shouts "Hope it's our last!"]
"Yeah. You got that right. But we're here. We're in this place we never wanted to be. And we're scared. And I'm not going to lie and tell you that from here on, it will all be easy. It won't be. It will be hard. And we'll be scared some more, I guess. And sad. And lonely. Some terrible things have happened. Some terrible things… But, still, we are grateful, and we give thanks to God, if you believe in Him, or to fate, or just to ourselves, all of us here."
[someone yells "To you, Sam."]
"No, no, no. No. We give thanks to the nineteen kids who are buried right there. And we give thanks to the heroes who are standing around here right now eating turkey. Too many names to mention, and they'd all just be embarrassed, anyway, but we all know them."
[loud, sustained applause, and many people turn to look at Brianna and others]
"Most of us are from Perdido Beach. Some of us are from Coates. Some of us are… well, a little strange. And some of us are not. But we're all here now, we're all in it together. We're going to survive. If this is our world now… I mean, it is our world now. It is our world. So let's make it a good one."
What it means:
- There's a sense of camaraderie with these kids! Especially Sam, who she feels straight up reverential towards. She'd do anything for him!
- He mentions that some of the kids are from Coates, her school; so she knows that at some point, she left there and came to this place, but she's not sure when or why.
- She is seen as a hero! Other kids look at her like a hero, this is an awesome feeling.
- The graveyard and the things she's seen in her other memories indicate that this place is not safe and terrible things are happening on a regular basis. So the fact that she's a hero and can help people means a lot.
+++ Teamdere and camaraderie.
+++ Trying to be a hero in Deco.
+-+- Less violence, more self-sacrifice? But she's still okay with violence against villains. Standards!
